Virtual PAs – Giving time back to your business

In the first of a series of blogs, I’m going to give you a brief introduction to the world of Virtual Personal Assistants and some information about my business, Premium Virtual Assistance.

Stepping into the virtual world…..

Imagine a world where you didn’t have to reply to emails, organise your own travel arrangements or manage your own diary. What could you do with all that extra time? What difference would it make to your business?

As a busy and thriving virtual PA, I know from my clients how valuable my service is for them. As busy entrepreneurs, most of my clients have taken the bold step to move away from the corporate world to start enterprises of their own. With many having formerly held high level appointments, they were used to being reliant on the services of their in-house PA to provide the essential support they needed in their working lives.

In the absence of large corporate budgets, it’s important for small business owners to spend their budgets wisely which includes only employing permanent resource when absolutely necessary. This is where a business like mine steps in. I offer all the benefits of having your own personal support without the costs associated with having a permanent member of staff. Taking over administration tasks, diary management, travel arrangements and email account management (to name but a few), means that my clients can use their time more effectively focusing on the growth of their business. For 30 years, I enjoyed a highly successful career as a PA at Board level in the corporate world (you can read more on the ‘About me’ section of the website). I’m proud that throughout my corporate career and now through my business, I’m highly regarded for my efficiency, organisational skills, attention to detail and for being a trusted advisor. This is demonstrated in the endorsements I’ve received.

The role has certainly changed over my career. No longer seen as a higher-level secretary, the modern-day PA is encouraged to be proactive, fully responsible for their workloads and valued for spotting things through the course of their work that others may miss.

My advice to you

If you’re considering a virtual PA, my advice is to take some time to research potential candidates so that you can pick the right support for your requirements. Although most will broadly have the same skill set, some may specialise in providing a more traditional approach (for example, diary management, organising meetings, taking dictation, making travel arrangements and preparing complex itineraries), whilst others offer more administrative based support such as data research, mail outs and social media support.

My business is successful as I’m a strong multi tasker, specialising in the traditional approach. I deliver the highest levels of accuracy, I’m flexible and adaptable, assertive, resourceful and remain calm under pressure. These are all critical attributes for any PA working with high level management, board members or busy entrepreneurs. With my extensive experience and skills, there’s no need for my clients to micro-manage, again freeing up valuable time to focus on their business.
